Background: The integration of digital technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), robotics, and automation systems is transforming healthcare delivery worldwide. Smart hospitals leverage these technologies to optimize clinical workflows, improve patient outcomes, enhance operational efficiency, and reduce healthcare costs. Objective: This study explores the role of smart hospitals and healthcare automation in improving healthcare services, patient safety, resource utilization, and healthcare management. Methods: A mixed-method study was conducted involving 350 healthcare professionals, hospital administrators, IT specialists, and patients across five tertiary healthcare institutions. Data were collected through structured questionnaires, interviews, and analysis of hospital performance indicators before and after automation implementation. Results: Healthcare automation significantly improved patient satisfaction (89.4%), operational efficiency (86.8%), medication safety (84.5%), resource utilization (82.3%), and clinical decision-making support (80.9%). Major challenges included implementation costs (67.1%), cybersecurity concerns (61.7%), and staff training requirements (58.2%). Conclusion: Smart hospitals represent the future of healthcare delivery by integrating advanced technologies to enhance patient care, improve efficiency, and strengthen healthcare sustainability. Strategic investment and policy support are essential for successful adoption.
