Abstract

Advances in genomic technologies have transformed healthcare by enabling personalized approaches to disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Personalized healthcare utilizes genomic information alongside clinical, environmental, and lifestyle data to optimize healthcare interventions for individual patients. The integration of genomic data into clinical practice represents a cornerstone of precision medicine.ObjectiveThis study examines the role of genomic data in personalized healthcare, evaluates current applications, discusses benefits and challenges, and explores future directions in precision medicine.MethodsA narrative review of literature published between 2018 and 2025 was conducted using PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, and Google Scholar. Studies focusing on genomics, pharmacogenomics, precision medicine, genetic testing, and personalized healthcare interventions were included.ResultsGenomic data have significantly improved disease risk assessment, early diagnosis, pharmacogenomics, cancer treatment, rare disease identification, and preventive healthcare strategies. Personalized healthcare approaches demonstrate improved clinical outcomes, reduced adverse drug reactions, and enhanced treatment effectiveness. Challenges include data privacy concerns, ethical considerations, cost barriers, and healthcare infrastructure limitations.ConclusionGenomic-driven personalized healthcare is reshaping modern medicine by enabling more precise and individualized patient care. Continued advancements in genomic sequencing, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, and healthcare integration are expected to accelerate the adoption of precision medicine globally.
